What this site is

A news comparison product that shows side-by-side coverage of the same story from outlets we label left-leaning and right-leaning, with links to the original publishers.

What we collect

We do not currently offer accounts, email signup, advertising, payments, or a personal profile. We do not use third-party analytics products, advertising pixels, or a marketing email list for this site.

We operate a small first-party popularity analytics system so we can understand which comparisons people open and which outlet article links they click. For each event we store only: the event type (pair_open or outlet_click), the related pair and/or outlet identifiers, and a timestamp (UTC date). We do not store IP addresses, user agents, cookies, or user identifiers in this analytics data. The purpose is product insight only—not advertising and not cross-site tracking.

When you email us (for example at hello@leftvsright.news), we receive the address and content you send so we can respond.

If you use the on-site feedback form, we store the star ratings you submit, any optional note, and an email address only if you choose to leave one so we can reply. An account is not required. We do not store your IP address with that feedback.

What our hosting provider may collect

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like most hosts, Vercel may automatically process technical data needed to operate and secure the service, which can include IP address, date and time of the request, pages or URLs requested, browser or device information (user agent), approximate location derived from IP if enabled by the host, and security or performance logs. That processing is governed by Vercel's practices. We do not sell that information. See Vercel's privacy policy: https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy

Cookies

We do not set marketing or advertising cookies ourselves today. Our first-party popularity analytics does not use cookies or local storage to identify visitors. The feedback prompt may store a flag in local storage on your device (dismissed, or already submitted) so we do not repeat the ask. That flag is not an account and is not an identifier we keep on our servers. The site or host may use strictly necessary technical cookies or similar technologies to deliver and secure the site (for example, an admin session cookie after staff login). If we later add email signup, ads, accounts, or additional analytics that identify visitors, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required.

Third-party links

Links to original articles go to other publishers' websites. Their privacy practices are their own.

How we use information

Technical and hosting data is used only to run and secure the site, diagnose errors or abuse, and understand basic traffic at the infrastructure level if the host provides it. First-party popularity events (pair opens and outlet clicks) are used only to see which comparisons and sources are used so we can improve the product. Emails you send us, and feedback you submit on the site, are used to improve the product and to reply when you asked for one. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Retention

Hosting logs are retained according to Vercel's practices and as needed to operate and secure the site. First-party popularity event rows are kept as long as useful for product analytics and then may be aggregated or deleted. We do not maintain a marketing database of visitors. Emails we receive are kept as long as reasonably needed to handle your request and our records.

Your choices and rights

Because we do not offer accounts or email lists yet, there is no profile to delete in-product. For privacy requests (including under applicable California, EU, or UK laws, to the extent they apply), email hello@leftvsright.news. We will respond as required.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

International visitors

The site may be hosted and processed in the United States (including by Vercel). If you visit from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the U.S.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes. The effective date above will change when we do.
